Leadership

2016 – 2017 Officers

Chair – Diana Marinimg_8894

Email: damarin2@uh.edu

Hey, everyone! My name is Diana, and I’m currently a Junior in Mechanical Engineering. I’m the first female in my family to pursue a degree in the STEM field and second to become a Mechanical Engineer. Outside of school, I enjoy baking, exploring, doing crafts, drinking coffee, and sleeping (if I’m lucky). As Chair of ASME, I would like to offer members more opportunities to be involved and enthusiastic; to develop and to refine leadership, professional, and study skills to ensure a successful future; and for ASME to invest in their education. I hope to bridge the relationship between ASME and local schools and charities, our section’s alumni, and other university organizations. Feel free to contact me or say “hi” anytime!

Vice Chair – Karina Padillaimg_8895

Hi! My name is Karina and I’m finally a mechanical engineering senior! I’ve been a member of ASME for 3 years, and last year I was the Public Relations Chair. As the Vice Chair, I hope to increase our partnerships with different companies in order to broaden our members’ job opportunities. I look forward to growing our organization and having a year full of great events!
On my free time I like to travel, have fun outdoors, and catch up on sleep. My goal is to visit every country in the world at least once! I only have 3 so far but I’ll get there sooner or later. 🙂 I hope to meet you all soon!

Secretary – Michelle Woodimg_8897

Email: mdwood@uh.edu

I’m a Senior Mechanical Engineering student and current Secretary for UH-ASME. I hope to improve communications between ASME members and officers and encourage more members to become involved with ASME national. I would also like to see UH-ASME travel to more conferences and professional development opportunities. I am also currently serving the International Gas Turbine Institute of ASME as the Student Advisory Committee Secretary and received the Outstanding Service Award for my work at the Turbo Expo 2016 conference. I am still involved in my first career as a professional sign language interpreter and teach in the local interpreter training program. When I’m not going to school, I like to read, dance, spend time outdoors fishing and shooting sporting clays, or just hang out with my friends and family.
