Who we are:
The American Society of Mechanical Engineers is a professional organization run and operated by the students at the University of Houston. We strive to improve the quality of our members’ academic and professional career so we provide opportunities to interact with professionals from leading companies, arrange events that foster community among students, organize outreach programs that increase public awareness about the engineering profession, and encourage good works through community service.
What we do:
ASME-UH is often found volunteering at university recruitment events such as Cat’s Back or at some of the social events like the BOS Party. Most of all, you can find us in the classroom as students excelling in engineering. Our members acquire excellent internship opportunities with companies such as Marathon Oil, Boeing, FMC Technologies Inc., CenterPoint Energy, and many more. We help our members get jobs through our LinkedIn alumni group and by providing fun and informative career prep.
Why we do it:
We are motivated individuals that are dedicated to improving the standard of University of Houston Mechanical Engineers. We want to go into the workplace and show up fully prepared for the challenges that await ahead. Our officers go above and beyond to donate their time to providing members with these engaging opportunities. It’s easy to find lasting friends here and the officers would do anything to invest in fellow members.
How to join:
Super easy! You can approach us at a general meeting or informational session or visit our lounge (Engineering Building 2, W227) for a printed form. If you want to do it paperless, then visit our form application on Get Involved and while you’re at it, join the membership group on Get Involved at the same time!
In terms of fees, there is no requirement to pay. However, if you would like to donate a minimum of $15, you can get a free ASME T-Shirt to show off your pride! If you wish to pay electronically, please click on the PayPal button to your right or on the Become a Member page.
